A two day workshop helping you to leverage Power BI as a useful tool for better business analytics. 


Designed for all Excel users and analysts who have responsibility for extracting, re-organising and analysing data, and data modelling, this practical two-day course will provide participants with hands-on experience in leveraging Power BI as a useful tool for better business analytics. 

Power BI (including Power Query & Power Pivot) are the biggest Excel news items in the last 10 years. They give Excel users the power to draw information out of multiple sources, link it together then perform calculations on it that can then be sliced & diced any way you want.

This hands-on course is focused on real-world techniques utilising the amazing capabilities of Power Query, Power Pivot and Power BI. You will use Power Query to extract and shape data and then load it into Power Pivot. You will build a complex Power Pivot Model from scratch, write DAX formulas and set up interactive reports. You will get a more in-depth understanding of Power Query and Power Pivot reporting techniques

  • Understand how Power BI builds on the functionality of Excel’s native tools (e.g. PivotTables, slicers) and key analytical functions
  • Learn how to import data from a variety of electronic sources and relate them quickly to deliver key information in a timely manner
  • Leverage on best practice database design, realising the power of the Data Model by using LOOKUP lists and efficient database design
  • Get your one-stop introduction to Power BI’s Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) language
Users should already be comfortable with Excel to get the most from this course. Participants should be familiar with functions & concepts such as VLOOKUP and SUMIFS. The focus of the course is on Excel 2013/2016 and Power BI Desktop.  


Advanced Power BI 


This intermediate/advanced, hands-on course is focused on developing your existing Power BI skills to make the most of its amazing capabilities. 

In this course, we focus on the “next-level” elements needed to get an in-depth understanding of what’s possible with Power BI and to apply this knowledge to real-world examples. Building on our Power BI Fundamentals course, this takes your Power Query, DAX and Visualisation skills to the next level.

Pre-requisites: This is an intermediate to advanced course, and users should already be familiar with the basic concepts of data modelling and able to design simple DAX measures such as SUM, COUNTROWS, DIVIDE.
